Hebrews 12:12-17 (New Living Translation)
12 So take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees. 13 Mark out a straight path for your feet so that those who are weak and lame will not fall but become strong.
A Call to Listen to God
14 Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord. 15 Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many. 16 Make sure that no one is immoral or godless like Esau, who traded his birthright as the firstborn son for a single meal. 17 You know that afterward, when he wanted his father’s blessing, he was rejected. It was too late for repentance, even though he begged with bitter tears.
Today is New Year Sunday Worship.. Pastor Heng was the preacher for today. as usual, he likes to challenge the congregation to think for themselves. I'm not good at taking messages, mostly main points, so below are the exerpts from Pastor's message. The message conincide with my Quiet Time today..
"...We can wish Happy New Year but who can make it happen?
What happen, what can happen we don't know.
What will we fill our diary with?
What will be my memories?
Life, health, family, church, world...
Many things occur, and we usually don't expect it.
we want to observe what we did last year, and make plans for this year. there are 5 areas, 4 internal and 1 external. We cannot control all these areas but we have a part how we want to live.
1) Physical
2) Mental
3) Social
4) Spiritual
5) Financial
Physical
- How was my health?
- Food and drinks (healthy/ unhealthy)
- Number hours of sleep? Do i get enough rest?
- games and sports -> do they contribute to my health or abuse it?
God gave us a mind to think..
Mental
- Knowledge --> what kind of books, magazines, shows, movies are we watching? What are we studying?
How are we investing our time? Will these books, whatever help us spiritually?
Social
what kind of friends are we having?
are they good for my spiritual life, bring out the best in me, go to good places?
How are we relating to our family, or do i spend my time fiddling with my game devices when it's family time?
How much time do i spend with my family?
Spiritual
How many time do we plan and earnestly want to go to Church?
What are we busy with? Where did we go most of the time?
Do we have time for fellowship, bible study, serve?
Or do we spend most of our time working 24/7?
Financial
What did I spend on? (good/ bad)
2011 is a brand new year, what will be the records in your diary?..."
I remembered the very first few times when Pastor preached like these at the pulpit. Because it was like tons of things I failed to do as a Christian. I am so thankful to God for granting me wisdom to start these blogs as a reminder to myself, how to live like He wants me to..
