(A-B-C) Respecting People in Authority

1 Peter 2:13-17

Bible verses: 16-17
For you are free, yet you are God's slaves, so don't use your freedom as an excuse to do evil.
Respect everyone, and love your Christian brothers and sisters. Fear God, and respect the King.

Challenge:
I will fear God, respect everyone and not use my freedom as an excuse to do evil.

Writing that challenge was a slap in the head compared to what i had done last night...

I promised in my introduction to be honest and i will.

After eating breakfast, I watched The Cross and The Switchblade. Was really touched by the conversion of a real life gangster. I felt so unappreciative towards God (by committing sins), when i am so much more fortunate..

Then i prepared myself to go to Church to help out with our Children's and Junior's Fellowship Christmas Celebration. I was in charged of games. Thank God Sis Karina gave me a book on games coz it definitely came in handy, i used it for two games today!

Then went to help Jasmine with the bulletins, started talking about how much i missed my friends who are travelling.. grr.. *much dislike*

Then i think i kinda over exert myself during the game time, was super hyper, my chest hurts..
Came home, mopped floor, washed clothes, cleaned my terrapin's tank, blogged. gonna rest now..

Registration for the Christmas party

Check out the nice mini stage set up!

Stacks of bulletins.. yes, these don't magically fold themselves..
Thank God for the committed YF who has been doing this for years.
Jasmine and Candice, my Xiao Mei (lil sisters) did today's.
Deaconess Chai Lan helped today. My heart's always warmed by the servant's heart of our Deacons and Deaconesses.

(A-B-C) Living stones for God's house

1 Peter 2:4-12

Bible Verse: 11&12
Dear friends, I warn you as temporary residents and foreigners" to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls.
Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbours. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honourable behaviour, and they will give honour to God when he judge the world.

Challenge:
I will keep away from worldly desires.

Eh.. Does that includes Jay Chou?? I am clear my life doesn't revolve around him, but i do think he is cute.. hee... and talented.. I don't drown my ears with his songs, all i have in my mp3 are Christian music and sermons. I think i DO have to be careful if i begin to idolize him.. then, THAT, is a mega problem for me.

Reminds me of the hymn

This world is not my home,
I'm just a'passing through.
My treasures are laid up,
somewhere beyond the blue...

When i saw the words "honourable behaviour", i wonder if i could display the word "honourable" when circumstances arrives, and i had to make a stand..

I know i failed once when i completely chose to keep quiet and not defend my faith when someone close to me said New Testament was bullshit.. I was so devastated, it made me miserable for days.. then i found this song on youtube, and i cried like a baby when the song reaches the chorus.. Here it is Everything to me by Avalon..

Here or there huh?

Matthew 28:19-20
Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.

I finished watching DVD on William Carrey's life and mission in India.. I can't imagine being in his shoes and all the suffering he went through.

No doubts there are times he wondered if he heard the call wrongly from God, but God did see him through. With God's guidance and strength, he started schools, colleges, translated the New Testament to different languages. The DVD is call Candle in the Dark..

Reminds me of our own church's missionary, Pastor Heng's son, Brother Nathaniel Heng. He is currently in Chiangmai, Thailand. And I admired his love for God and His people there in the land of smiles..

And another of my friend, had felt the burden for the people from the Land of smiles too.. She is currently there, and will be back on the 27th Dec.. I know she will be heart broken to leave that place, but I believe God certainly will make the way for her.

As for me, i miss the stars and dusts of Kenya.. I miss the children's eagerness to learn.. I feel i want to go there, still praying if God wants me to be there..

Messed up life?

1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness

Just ended my discipleship with Sis Charissa, and we have come to an end on our first 40 minutes bible study "What the Bible says about Sex?" I love what Kay Arthur wrote at the end of the book, and i will quote directly from the book, praying it will speak to anyone reading this..

Taken from: "What the Bible says about Sex?"
By Kay Arthur and Bj Lawson, page 80 & 81,
(C) 2008 by Precept Ministries International

"We have seen clearly that sex is God's invention. It is He who created human beings male and female, He who told Adam and Eve to be fruitful and to multiply, and also He who said sex was designed for our pleasure. However, too many have bought into Satan's lies about sex and then discovered to their great regret that God set limits on sex to protect us from the destructive consequences of its misuse.

Have you made a mess of your life because of your sexual choices? Do you feel unworthy of the Father's love? Dirty? Worthless?

Having seen for yourself what God says, do you realize that no matter what you have done, you can be assured of complete and absolute forgiveness? Even if you have been involved in sexually immoral behaviour, including sex outside of marriage, oral sex, heavy petting or fondling, incest, adultery, homosexuality, lesbianism, bestiality, or pornography - YOU can be forgiven. "How?" you ask.

1. First, agree with God that you have sinned - broken His holy Law, rebelled against His holy will. Name your sins for what they are. The word confess in 1 John 1:9 means "to say the same thing." To confess sin, then, is to agree with God that what you have done is wrong.

2. Take responsibility for your sins. You can't blame anyone else. Acknowledge your sins and take full responsibility.

3. Thank God for the blood of Jesus Christ, which cleanses you from all sin, and in faith accept His forgiveness. Remember, forgiveness is always based on grace, never something earned. "Where sin is abounded, grace did much more abound" (Romans 5:20, KJV)

4. Take God at His Word. "Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus" (Romans 8:1). No matter what your feelings, cling in faith to what God says. Don't let satan, the accuser of the brethren, rob you of faith's victory.

5. Thank God for the gift of His Holy Spirit and tell Him that you want to walk by the Spirit so that you will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh (Galatians 5:16). Prayers like this show genuine repentance.

Scripture challenges us to both believe what God says and to change our behaviour accordingly. In reality your belief system always determines your behaviour. You have seen what God says about sex; will you now choose to believe it, walk in it, and teach it?..."

(A-B-C) A call to be holy

I Peter 1:13-2:3
Verse i chose: 14, 15

So you must live as God's obedient children. Don't slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didnt know any better than.
For the Scriptures say, "You must be holy because I am holy."

Challenge: I will live as God's obedient child..

It almost seems like im shooting myself in my own foot as i wrote that challenge down. I am pretty sure there's someone out there who thinks this is really easy to do. Well, for a person without the Holy Spirit's guidance, our first reaction will be whatever we've learnt from parents, siblings, mainly the world..

After being a Christian, there's like one hundred and million things to learn about God, and it all seems so difficult to do so. But if you were to sum it up, everything's to be done in the name of Love.

Love God, love your neighbours like yourself.. These ARE the two greatest commandment. Keep these two in mind, you won't go wrong with decision making, directions, etc.

Oh, for those who are interested to have effective Quiet time like the one i am doing, you can refer to this site my discipler created.. It's call A-B-C bible study... I've linked you up to the instruction pages, explore around and you can find how she has seperated the verses for daily QT..

God bless! uploading the songs i wrote for God here...

(A-B-C) The Hope of Eternal Life

1 Peter 1:3-12

Bible verse: 6-7
So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you have to endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold - though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honour on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.

Challenge:
I will be glad through trials..

I think in one of my conversations with Sis Charissa, we talked about how the world might viewed the bible. Crazy thoughts like "rejoicing through trials", "love your enemies", "turn the other cheek"...

And yes, many times we are deemed as fools. But i like what Sis Charissa's friend said, "I'll be a fool for Christ."

I wrote in my bible "Fools for Christ".. and the number one person who might thought im truly out of my mind, is my mum, but hey, still love her to bits..

Weekly dates

Galatians 6:1-2
Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself.
Share each other's burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.

Today was a very fruitful discipleship with Sis Charissa.. She gave me loads of ideas about the blog im starting as an evangelistic tool.. Praying hard and brain storming for ideas now..

We continued on the 40 minute bible study on "What the bible says about sex?" It did opened my eyes to more immoralities that i thought was really ok.. But obviously not.. I thank God that i was borned in an Asian country where we are still pretty much conservatives.. I was quite a porn addict, might be in real deep trouble if God and mum didnt hold me back.. phew..

My Quiet time for today is 1 Peter 1:1-2.

A (A title) - Greetings from Peter
B (Bible Verse) - vs 2
God the Father knew you and chose you long ago, and His Spirit has made you holy. As a result you have obeyed Him and have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ.
May God give you more and more grace and peace.
C (Challenge) - I will be like Peter, wishing well of others, and remind them that God chose them.

At first glance, i was like... How to do the challenge part? and usually challenges comes quite easily without having me to think so much. Guess i took it for granted. Then i notice how Peter reminded the believers, that God chose them..

And as i checked my facebook every now and then, i realised fellow believers sometimes gets upset with life, and then i thought, hey! what Peter did was right.. Seems common to just greet others, but reminding that they are personally chosen by God is something else.

I thank God for giving me a chance to remind a sister in Christ that we are unique in God's eyes..
