Legacy

YF (Youth Fellowship) & YAF (Young Adults' Fellowship) had their AGM today.

Before going to church, met up with Rachel to have lunch, and then proceeded to Church.

After the AGM and Elections, Elder John gave a short exaltation.

I will blog as much as I can, please note I am a very slow note taker.. So not really word for word...

"...How was 2010 for you?
What can you use for 2011?

1 Corinthians 3:1-9

~I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow.~

Some of us are planters, some of us are feeders. What is important is, what are the legacies are we leaving for our generations to see?

Good legacies from Bible
- Abraham (trust in God, friend of God)
- David (A man after God's own heart, determination)
- Stephen (1st Christian matyr, Faithful to the end)
- Paul (A model missionary, zealous for God)

Bad legacies from the Bible
- Cain (1st murderer, jealousy)
- Wife of Job (said "curse God and die", distrust)
- Annanias and Saphira (Cheaters)
- Judas Iscariot (Betrayer)

Legacies since Apostatic time
- Church
Polycarp, Martin Luther, Wycliffe/ Tyndale, Robert Morrison, William Carrey, Hudson Taylor, George Muller, Dr John Sung.

My Legacy

What legacy do I wish to leave behind before I meet my Creator?

~Teach me to number my days and apply my heart to wisdom~

- The Benefits of your legacy
- Do I have the ability to make a difference?
- Consider Jesus' testimony
Mark 12:41-44 --> The Lord's eyes are upon the faithful.

- Give my all to the Lord..

Like footsteps, we leave behind legacy
to family
to Church
to buddies..

The only preacher your neighbour ever hear from, may be you.. "

Elder John talked really quickly after this so I could hardly catch the rest..

But I guess, it's plain for us to see..

As Sis Charissa mentioned, as she closes the YF's AGM and elections. she said Jesus will commend us on two things..

"Well done, good and faithful servant"

(A-B-C) The Day of the Lord is coming (pt 1)

2 Peter 3:1-7

Bible verses: 3, 7
Most importantly, I want to remind you that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking the truth and following their own desires...
...And by the same word, the present heavens and earth have been stored up for fire. They are being kept for the day of judgement, when ungodly will be destroyed.

Challenge:
I will remember there is judgement coming for the ungodly.

(A-B-C) The dangers of False Teachers (Part 3)

2 Peter 2:12-22

Bible Verse: 19
They promise freedom, but they themselves are slaves of sin and corruption. For you are a slave to whatever controls you.

Challenge:
I will only be a slave to God, so He controls me

2nd Day of School

Crashed yesterday sorry for not blogging.. Here's my journal entries..

05 Jan
Feeling really tired.. Totally need strength from God. Today is Wednesday... Prepared the bible story (Creation), praying children will like it.

(After school)
Thank God for He is great!
Only 2 children cried today. They settled down quickly though.

One of my child got sick at home, had stomach flu and sore throat.. =(

Told story of creation, played guitar, we sang "My God is so big"

Took more pictures. Thank God one of my kiddos is more well behaved today. He still can be quite strong willed when he gets too excited.. He has a lot of creativity and is good with literacy and numeracy, just needs to tone down and learn to sit still. Am so thankful to God for granting wisdom to guide him.

Had to lecture someone today, but my way of lecturing comes with loads of hugs and kisses, and reminders of who loves the child.. Like, "mummy loves you", "Daddy loves you", "Ms Cynthia loves you" and of course "Jesus loves you".

Got most of my pictures printed on the school printer.. Thank God i could complete my birthday and name charts..

Can't believe it took me the rest of the day!!

Before having dinner with Heng Family, met up with one of the Church's Aunty and she's working in a company that sells printer! Though it is still cheap, i still feel heartache for having to part with that amount of money.. AHHHH... anyway, I need it la.. God will make up for the rest =)

Mrs Heng's in Chiangmai, but she's still the Chef! Hee.. ..."

06 Jan

Thank God only one boy wept a bit when he came into class.. After a while, he settled down and played well with his friends..

Most children are more settled.. Need to pray for wisdom to come up with more interesting lessons... They seemed so easily distracted.. Heh...

Thank God for my Assistant Teacher Mrs Low.. She's a great help in helping me catch my children who like to run around..

They are getting more used to the routine, so am thankful to God!

My class is so adorable.. They looked so small.. haha.. And I am so big!!

Gonna play Barney for them tomorrow.. heh. I know they love him.. Though I quite dislike that big purple dinosaur.

Gonna rest now..

(A-B-C) The Dangers of False Teachers (Pt 1)

2 Peter 2:1-3

Bible Verse: 2
Many will follow their evil teaching and shameful immorality. And because of these teachers, the way of truth will be slandered.

Challenge:
I will not follow evil teaching and shameful immoralities.

First Day of School

Phew Thank God for seeing me through today..

At the start, most of my children were crying already, but thank God most of them settled down after snack time, which is middle of the school hours, and but play time, more or less all quite settled.

Am grateful to God that i am able to rest in the afternoon, my chest ached from carrying some of the children.. Now my head aches.. Haha.. Funny body..

Totally understands how they feel about school,  I went through the same thing when i was young..

Managed to capture most of their pictures... I need a printer to print the pictures! haha..

Gotta prepared for tomorrow's bible story! I'm telling them about Creation.

(A-B-C) Paying attention to Scripture

2 Peter 1:12-21

Bible verse: 19
Because of that experience, we have even greater confidence in the message proclaimed by the prophets. You must pay close attention to what they wrote, for their words are like a lamp shinning in a dark place - until the Day dawns, and Christ the Morning Star shines in your heart.

Challenge:
I will pay close attention to the Scripture.

(A-B-C) Growing In faith (Pt 2)

2 Peter 1:8-11

Bible verse: 10
So, dear brothers & sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away.

Challenge:
I will work hard so I can prove that I am among those God has called and chosen.

Somehow lately, all the bible verses coincide with The Pilgrim's Progress.. What am I saying, that book literally talks about a Christian's life!

Sunday Worship (New Year 1st Sunday)

Hebrews 12:12-17 (New Living Translation)

12 So take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees. 13 Mark out a straight path for your feet so that those who are weak and lame will not fall but become strong.

A Call to Listen to God
14 Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord. 15 Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many. 16 Make sure that no one is immoral or godless like Esau, who traded his birthright as the firstborn son for a single meal. 17 You know that afterward, when he wanted his father’s blessing, he was rejected. It was too late for repentance, even though he begged with bitter tears.

Today is New Year Sunday Worship.. Pastor Heng was the preacher for today. as usual, he likes to challenge the congregation to think for themselves. I'm not good at taking messages, mostly main points, so below are the exerpts from Pastor's message. The message conincide with my Quiet Time today..

"...We can wish Happy New Year but who can make it happen?

What happen, what can happen we don't know.
What will we fill our diary with?
What will be my memories?

Life, health, family, church, world...
Many things occur, and we usually don't expect it.

we want to observe what we did last year, and make plans for this year. there are 5 areas, 4 internal and 1 external. We cannot control all these areas but we have a part how we want to live.
1) Physical
2) Mental
3) Social
4) Spiritual
5) Financial

Physical
- How was my health?
- Food and drinks (healthy/ unhealthy)
- Number hours of sleep? Do i get enough rest?
- games and sports -> do they contribute to my health or abuse it?

God gave us a mind to think..

Mental
- Knowledge --> what kind of books, magazines, shows, movies are we watching? What are we studying?
How are we investing our time? Will these books, whatever help us spiritually?

Social
what kind of friends are we having?
are they good for my spiritual life, bring out the best in me, go to good places?
How are we relating to our family, or do i spend my time fiddling with my game devices when it's family time?
How much time do i spend with my family?

Spiritual
How many time do we plan and earnestly want to go to Church?
What are we busy with? Where did we go most of the time?
Do we have time for fellowship, bible study, serve?
Or do we spend most of our time working 24/7?

Financial
What did I spend on? (good/ bad)

2011 is a brand new year, what will be the records in your diary?..."

I remembered the very first few times when Pastor preached like these at the pulpit. Because it was like tons of things I failed to do as a Christian. I am so thankful to God for granting me wisdom to start these blogs as a reminder to myself, how to live like He wants me to..

(A-B-C) Peter's Greetings & Growing in Faith (pt 1)

2 Peter 1:1-7

Bible Verses: 5-7
In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God's promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge,
and knowledge with self-control and self-control with patience endurance, and patience endurance with godliness
and godliness with brotherly affection and brotherly affection with love for everyone.

Challenge:
I will pray and ask god to help me achieve the constant growing as stated above for 2011.

So far, all the ABC quiet time challenges were indeed challenging. Don't think Christians have it easy. Lots of other Christians in other parts of the world, never had it easy..
