(A-B-C) Living for God Part 2

1 Peter 4:7-9
The end of the world is coming soon. Therefore, be earnest and disciplined in your prayers.
Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins.
Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to share.

Challenge: I will be earnest and disciplined in my prayers.

Went out with Eldest Sis and family for shopping and meals.. Went to Church for Christmas Service and then went out to West Coast Park Macdonald to chat with Aunty Jasmin, Fiona, Candice and Aixin. Made new year resolution to lose 20kg and win 3 souls to Christ!
Gave tracts impromptu, rejected by many, mainly local Singaporeans.

Heard the following comments:
- "I think you too tired"
- "Wah! So scary!"
And one ang moh said
-"I can't read"

Was not discouraged at all, in fact they are the very ones the reason Jesus came. People use this holiday to enjoy time with their family, and girlfriend, without understanding why.

There's so much sense of security in Singapore that we are all comfortable filling up the bottomless pit of our desires without realising it does not satisfy.

Please dont think i am condemning anyone. I'm a sinner too, saved by grace. Just want to let you know grace had already come.

It came in the name of Jesus.

Through Gates of Splendor

Finished watching the DVD..

If i was the wife of a missionary who had been killed by the people we were trying to minister to, I wonder if i would have the same courage to forgive, to pray for them, and to live with them?

If you have a chance, please watched it. We are not insane, we just want to let everyone know about the Gospel...

From Jerusalem to Irian Jaya

reading this book Sis Charissa lent me.. Only managed to read a few pages so far. Just finished one part on the persecution of the early churches..

Seriously.. If Jesus's Cruxification and Resurrection isn't real, these men died in vain.

Thinking about myself again.. Would I stand firm when the time comes?

Praying for God to grant me courage, teach me to love Him with everything I have, everything I am..

(A-B-C) Living for God (Part 1)

1 Peter 4:1-6

Bible verses: 1, 4, 5
So then, since Christ suffered physical pain, you must arm yourselves with the same attitude he had, and be ready to suffer too. For if you have suffered physically for Christ, you have finished with sin.
(4) Of course, your former friends are surprised when you no longer plunge into the flood of wild and destructive things they so. So they slander you.
But remember, that they will have to face God, who will judge everyone, both the living and the dead.

First time woken up so early, from a dream that feels like a nightmare, and feeling so energetic, did a few adjustments to the blogs. So far so good.. Nothing's churning in my stomach yet. Thank God for recovery..

Remembered Hannah sharing the above verse with me when i shared with her the pain i experienced from sharing the gospel with my old friends. I was faced with such hostility that i cried every night thinking about what they said, and wondered if everyone really preferred the old Cynthia...

I guessed I tried too hard to share my testimony, and now, I am glad i started this. For those who wants to read about me, will find everything here...

Christmas Eve! Excited!! Gonna clean the house now.. la la la la la

Had my 2nd Christmas present from Mrs Heng, toaster oven!! Looking forward to lunch!! muahaha

Pilgrim's Progress

Watched the film scripted from the book of the same title written by John Bunyan.. Truly reflecting, especially the last part, where ignorant were at the gates and were not allowed to enter because he has no certificate of Salvation, and hands were bounded then went to hell.

This is a great movie, and I would definitely buy the book and keep reading it over and over. I think I will update the progress here.

I am sure where I am going, how about you? Which character are you?

(A-B-C) Suffering For Doing Good

1 Peter 3:13-22

Bible verses: 14, 15
But even if you suffer for doing what is right, God will reward you for it. So don't worry or be afraid of their threats. Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it.

Challenge:
I will be ready to face suffering with God's strength.

Though this seemed a bit "you-are-asking-for-it" kind of mind set, we have to face the fact we are living the "last days" prior to Jesus' 2nd coming.

Watched John Bunyan's and Gladys Aylward's story. How God used them for His Kingdom sake. They were bold and obedient to follow God's commands, to do God's will.

I long for a day where God will used me mightily too, and these whatever I am going through right now, are molding me for whatever God planned for me.

Can't help thinking about what William Carey said
~Expect great things from God,
Attempt great things for God~~

Good report from the dietitian..

(A-B-C) All Christians

1 Peter 3:8-12

Bible Verses: 8-9
Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathsize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude.
Don't repay evil for evil. Don't retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead. pay them back with a blessings. That is what God has called you to do, and He will bless you for it.

Challenge: I will love my brothers and sisters in Christ, and my enemies.

I know, i know, this is another of the "What??? Are you serious??" Kind of advice from the bible.

Yup, we are asked to do just that. Unless you have the God's Spirit in you, it's really hard to love your enemy.

Somebody's Daughter

Romans 12:2
Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and leasing and perfect.

The time right now is 2:47am. I slept at 11pm, woke up at 1am.
At the back of my head, all i could think about was the DVD that Sis Charissa brought for me to watch. And so i did.

Here are a few things i learnt from the DVD:
- Sin thrives in darkness
- talking about it leads to accountability, leads to eventually recovery
- The only way to freedom is to commit to being free (King David's prayer "Show me Thy ways O LORD")
- Recovery also happens when i make the decision to live differently as God wants me to.

~I'm not tortured anymore,
got no secrets,
I've come clean with the dark obsessions
that haunted my life~ Free, by John Mandeville

definitely can sleep better now..

(A-B-C) Husbands and Wives

Sorry didnt update yesterday. was recovering from food poisoning.. Staring at the screen too long i realise, increased my giddiness..

Anyways, I'm combining both my Quiet time for yesterday and today.

1 Peter 3:1-6
A: Wives
B: 1,2
In the same way, you wives must accept the authority of your husbands. Then even if some refuse to obey the Good News, your godly lives will speak to them without any words. They will be won over by observing your pure and reverent lives.
C: When I get married, I will accept the authority of my husband.

1 Peter 3:7
A: Husbands
B: 7
In the same way, you husbands must give honor to your wives. Treat your wife with understanding as you live together. She may be weaker than you are, but she is your equal partner in God's gift of new life. Treat her as you should so your prayers will not be hindered.
C: When I get married, I will remind my husband.

I'm getting slack in reading my bible.. And currently, i'm also reading the great empires of History, and you will be shock how much facts was revealed in the bible compared to the histories.. La la la la..

Our God is an Awesome God,
He reigns from Heaven above,
With wisdom, power and love.
Our God is an Awesome God.

(A-B-C) Slaves

1 Peter 2:18-25

Bible Verses: 18-19
You who are slaves must accept the authority of your masters with all respect. DO what they tell you - not only if they are kind and reasonable, but even if they're cruel.
For God is pleased with you when you do what you know is right and patiently endures unfair treatment.

Challenge:
I will accept the authority of my master/ boss.

This is one of the verses where the people of the world will be like :"What????" Ya i know, Christians we are...

Today is Christmas Sunday. Pastor Philip Heng reminded us how Jesus was made poor who us. Choir presented, i think we did pretty well, thank God! Though i felt like fainting half the time, thank God for granting me enough stamina to sing both the special items.

Then i realised, my chest was hurting and i didn't get enough rest after over exerting from being the game In Charge yesterday. You know, even for Christians, we got to be reminded how to be appreciative, even the older Christians. We are always learning.

I like what Pastor Heng preached today. Short and straight to the point.

2 Corinthians 8:9
For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that ye through His poverty might be rich.

Pastor had his notes typed out neatly, my challenge for you is to spend the next 5 minutes reading it!

A. Our Lord Jesus Christ was rich
1. He was one with the Father (John 10:30)
2. Had the same glory as God the Father before the world was (John 17:5)
3 Dwelt "in the bosom of the Father" (John 1:18)
4. Was "the brightness of His [the Father's] glory (Hebrew 1:3)
5 Was "the express image [facsimile] of the Father" (Heb 1:3)
6. Was Creator of the universe (Hebrew 1:2)
7. He upholds the universe. By Him, all things consist [adhere, hold together] (Colossians 1:17)
8. He was rich in power over nature, sin, sickness, death, Satan, evil spirits, man (Matthew 28:18)
9. He was rich in glory (Ephesians 1:18). Had the same glory as God the Father (John 17:5).
10. He was rich in wisdom (Romans 11:33). "In Him are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge" (Colossians 2:3)
11. He was rich in majesty (Jude 25).
12. He was rich in grace (Ephesians 1:7, 2:7)
13 He was rich in goodness (Romans 2:4)
14 He was rich in blessing (Ephesians 1:3)
15. He was rich in mercy (Ephesians 2:4)
16. He was rich in riches (Ephesians 3:8).
17. He was rich in love (Galatians 2:20).
18. He is the Son of God.

B. Our Lord Jesus Christ became poor
1. He took upon Himself the form of man.
2. He was made in the likeness of man.
3. He took the form of a servant (Philippians 2:7)
4. He came obedient unto death (Philippians 2:8)
5. He suffered the death of the Cross (Philippians 2:8)
6. When Ha came to Earth, there was no room for Him in the inn (Luke 2:7)
7. He was born in a manger (Luke 2:7, 16)
8. He was wrapped in swaddling clothes (Luke 2:7, 12)
9 His mother made a sacrifice of a pair of turtle doves (luke 2:24). This showed how poor His family was.
10. As an adult, the Lord said that He had nowhere to lay His head (Matthew 8:20)
11. For the Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem, He had to borrow a donkey (Mark 11:2)
12. For the Last Supper, He had to borrow an Upper Room (Matthew 26:18)
13. Even before He hung on the Cross, His robe was taken away and the soldiers gambled for it.
14. After His death, he was laid in a borrowed tomb (John 19:41)

C. We who are poor
1. We are lost sinners, born with a sinful nature.
2. We are lost and undone.
3. Facing future judgement for sin.
4. After death, we will be consigned to the Lake of Fire.
5. We are helpless and weak and cannot pay the penalty of sin or help ourselves.
6. We are under the curse of death.
7. We are in the Kingdom of Satan.
8. We are awaiting Hell and the Lake of Fire.

D. Our Lord Jesus Christ came to make us rich
1. When we believe in Him, we become God's child (John 1:12)
2. We are saved from future judgement to come.
3. We have our sins forgiven.
4. We become future citizens of heaven, beginning now on Earth.
5. We become heirs of God.
6. We become joint-heirs with the Lord Jesus Christ.
7. Our lives are transformed.
8. We are saved and become saints, and our future is in Heaven, to live with God eternally.
9. Isn't it amazing what Christ had come to do for us?

E. Conclusion
1. What will you do with Jesus, the Son of God?
2. He came to be Saviour of the world. He came to be the way to God.
3. Is it that difficult to decide what to do with Jesus?
4. If you are hungry, you need to eat. If you are thirsty, you need to drink. If you are sick, you need to consult a doctor.
5. If you are spiritually sick and troubled by your sin or by evil spirits, or by the fear of judgement to come, you need a Saviour.
6. Only Jesus can save you. He is God's Gift at Christmas, just for you. Will you receive Jesus as your Saviour now?
